Mom

Took Mom to the doctor on Tuesday and she had a major procedure removing a cluster of 3 skin cancers very close together on her arm. Brought her back here on Wednesday confused and not really able to look after herself, confusion now almost gone, enjoyed lunch today with my youngest sister, tomorrow a long walk is planned and Sunday lunch with another sister and members with our extended family, she wasn't going to go, yet now she is looking forward to our Sunday pre Christmas get together.

She’s getting there, however, I had to introduce her to Zinc tablets (which I take) for skin repair, her stitches were due to be removed on Tuesday but the wound had not healed enough I will be taking her back to the Doctor on Friday to have them removed.

Mum is doing it tough at the moment, her children have told her in no uncertain terms that she can no longer live alone, we are moving her in late January early February here to my house and she has lived for the last 30 years in the same place, confusion reigns supreme when she is here and then when she returns home. Hopefully it will be a early transition for Mom, although I know selling her forever home will be really hard on her.

cjb she’s not I took her to the Doctor on Tuesday to have the stitches removed, it didn’t happen I’m taking her back tomorrow (Friday) when they have to come out, then bringing her back here to my house. I’ve put her on a course of Zinc (if she remembers to take them) to improve her healing ability, I’m hoping that this works.

Ha ha ha Carol my Mom loves potato chips so much that we have to hide them from her, she can vacuum up a whole packet in next to no time.
She’s my Mom and I will not let her be looked after in any nursing home or institution that hasn’t known her for the last 63 years (like me) I remember when my grandmother was in a Nursing Home and how dreadful it was, we have come a long way in the last 30 years, but our elderly arnt always treated with the respect and love they deserve.

same thing I felt about my mom, when they wanted to put her in a nursing home I said no, they wouldve rehabbed her to death literally, she had congestive heart failure, and they are/were real big on pushing the exercise!!!!for a person with a heart that is almost gone. I kept her alive for almost 5 yrs and when she went it was cause it was her time, she was tired and told me so, and she went in her sleep…with a smile on her face. With my dad, he chose the nursing home cause they had never been seperated and he was the kind that needed a audience…he also passed due to heart failure…..they wanted to put a pace maker in him, but also cautioned that he was rather old…he was 81….and the contrast dye they used took out his kidneys….they wanted me to ask him what he wanted, told then they could, he wasnt unconscious, and he was in his right mind….they day before I talked to the nurse for him and he told me how"Bill was pretty talkative all night" and he asked him who he was talking to and Dad said “my wife, she’s right there” (she had been gone for 5 yrs!!!!!!) on THE day, the hosp calls me and says I gotta get right over there, so I rally the kids(literally….my kids) all 3…. and we went in his room and he told me he wanted to go home with ma, to which the DR introduced ALOT of morphine into his IV, and each one of us turned his life support off, ending with me, turning off his external pacemaker……God……Death with dignity?..I just hope God understands I was helping him home and it was his choice….and I would like to believe she held his hand as they walked their path home….thank you for allowing me to speak of this, I have to go cry now………

Hopefully, your mama allows herself the necessary time for her body to rest, and heal, mosr importantly. Zinc, will work wonders too !
