Friday Natter

Well my peace and quiet has been completely destroyed by a pregnant 16 year old who has left school and spends the whole day playing loud, loud music.

I now don't go into the back garden to work on my Bali garden unless she is out.

Ciao

from the lady that "downsized" to a bigger house

SEC as far as pregnant 16 year old’s are concerned I have no tolerance at all, in this day and age when you can buy contraceptives over the counter, there is absolutely NO reason a 16 year old should get pregnant, unless they want to bludge on the welfare system, which she is doing, the only way you can leave school at 16 here is if you are pregnant and she’s left school. When I rented my flat out to her mother I took pity on her, charged her less rent than is the norm, offered to mow the lawn for her (although she is 10 years younger than me and the last tenant paid someone to mow said lawn), when her lease was up I increased the rent by $5 although the Real Estate was pushing for me to increase it by $25 to bring it close to the average rent here, she repaid me by not paying the excess gas winter heating bill which was $800, $500 above the norm, this account is in my name as she didn’t have the reconnection money.

I’ve given them 90 days notice and on the 12th June she has to vacate, it will be interesting to see if she does, the rent here is far, far less than she is paying. I need to do a whole heap of work (including underpinning of the foundations) down stairs, which is scheduled to start on the 16th June, they won’t like living there when that work is going on, they will have to crawl through a window to get inside.

My 32 yo son who’s been living upstairs with me will move down there as soon as they are gone, he’s a carpenter and between him and the “builder” a lot of the exterior stuff has already been prepared, there is 2 entrances to the flat, both staircases and landings have to be replaced, both are dangerous and falling apart, they will be the first things that go on the 16th June along with the power, she knows about the stabilizing that needs to be done, she knows that we have to have complete access to underpin the foundation, etc etc , I’m not holding my breath as there is a lot of ways that you can beat an eviction order and she’s a very, very clever lady that milks the welfare system and knows all the in’s and out’s.

Oh this is the reason I would NOT want to be a landlord, way to much drama and dead beats. Your garden looks lovely though. In the end you will be able to enjoy it
